GlerAkur

GlerAkur is the alias of Icelandic composer Elvar Geir Sævarsson. His debut album, The Mountains Are Beautiful Now, was originally written as a soundtrack for a play about Icelandic outlaws, Fjalla-Eyvindur & Halla. The music features multi-layered, atmospheric soundscapes that evoke images of glaciers and snow-clad landscapes. While the first two songs impress with build-ups, ambient vibes, and sludgy heaviness, the middle section feels like one long interlude, designed to accompany the play. Patience pays off with the closing track, “Fagurt Er Á Fjöllunum Núna,” which brings back the intensity and tension from the beginning.
