As True As The Sky

As True As The Sky is the solo project of South African musician Derik Nieman, delivering a darker strain of post-rock. Influenced by Caspian, If These Trees Could Talk, God Is an Astronaut, Cloudkicker, and progressive acts like David Maxim Micic and Sithu Aye, the music shifts between fragile atmospheres and crushing intensity, favoring ebb and flow over explosive crescendos.

The debut album, The Shadows That Consume Us (28 Nov 2025), is the result of over a decade of writing and five years of recording. Across nine tracks, it explores grief, loss, anxiety, regret, and the search for meaning in the dark—reflecting Nieman’s twenty years of experience distilled into a singular vision.
