Mountainscape - Traversing Realms

Released 24th July 2026, Traversing Realms presents a three-track journey through cinematic post-metal, reworking themes from Dune and The Elder Scrolls before closing on a more personal piece about grief.

The Openning track - Dune, reworks Hans Zimmers main theme into a wide, pulsating, cinematic soundscape. Amaya López Carromero joins the trio, adding an ethereal vocal layer floating over Mountainscapes iconic post-metal style guitar riffs and variations of the original score. The textural contrast is sublime, bringing a different level of intesity and depth to the original progression. There is a sense of grandure, trial and sacrifice.

The second track, The Elder Scrolls, reimagines melodies from Jeremy Soules 'Oblivion' and 'Skyrim' soundtracks.

Mountainscapes signature head banging riffs blend into celtic hymns and foggy expances. We drift between terrains, march into battles and spearhead a charge of discovery deep into a fanatasy landscape.

The final track, Closure, begins with floating, melancholic strings and a soft, flickering guitar motif, before opening up, arms held high, wide and welcoming, as if embodying a sense of acceptance.
The middle section ramps up into riff-driven, stomping energy: a requiem of purpose and clarity.
We end with a deep breath and a nod to something within - a mark that the world, or a person, has left on us; something that has changed us, as we accept and absorb that change.

I loved this journey and concept of taking some familiar works and digging further into them, expanding their worlds and spaces. I feel like re-watching Dune on silent with this rendition playing over and I will certainly be adding The Elder Scrolls to me gaming playlist!
