Wang Wen, formed in 1999, is China’s premier post-rock band hailing from Dalian. Their music, characterized by atmospheric and slow-moving compositions, has garnered a large following both in China and abroad. The quintet has shared stages with genre giants like Mogwai and collaborated with peers such as Godspeed! You Black Emperor. Wang Wen’s sound has evolved over the years, moving away from their original influences (including bands like Sonic Youth) into more complex instrumental territory.
