Miava was a Belgian instrumental post-metal / post-rock band formed in 2009. What started as aimless jam sessions between musicians burned out in other projects quickly evolved into a sound that blended heavy, atmospheric riffs with cinematic restraint.

The band released a self-titled EP in 2010, followed by The Fall of Public Man in 2011, gaining strong support within the European post-rock and metal scenes. Miava shared stages with bands such as Channel Zero, Karma To Burn, Red Fang, Karnivool, Caspian and Maybeshewill, and appeared at festivals including Dunk! Festival, Roadburn and Desertfest London.

In 2013, Miava released their debut full-length ‘Essay on Bentham’ via Rough Trade Records (PIAS), produced by Ace Zec. The album marked a defining moment for the band and firmly established their place within the genre.

In 2016, Miava’s journey came to an abrupt halt following the tragic death of their drummer in a hit-and-run accident. The band has remained inactive since.
