Founded in 2006 by Dutch multi-instrumentalist Ruben Vermeulen, Funus evolved from its black metal roots into an immersive shoegaze-driven sound. Drawing from Marillion’s Misplaced Childhood, ’90s shoegaze like The Verve, and Motorpsycho’s hypnotic heaviness, the artist forged a distinctive, instantly recognizable identity.
