It’s Christmas Eve 2023, and I’m invited by a friend to join him and his wife to spend the evening together. It’s almost time, and I should get up and get ready, but I’m still looking at my screen, trying to make that last change to the code, to make the site look the way I wanted it to.
I’m not in the best time of my life. Over the past two months, my life has gone through unexpected changes. Changes can be tough. They can break you, break the illusion you’ve built of how things work.
But we humans are pretty good at adapting. As long as we don’t give up and keep looking forward to better times, I think we can travel through our pain.
Time is a tricky thing. Sometimes it passes in a blink. You look back and realize how fast everything moved, as if you never really felt any of the moments. Other times, you feel stuck, and the weight of every single moment feels like a year pressing down on your chest.
In times like these, creating something, building something, becomes a way to survive. At least, that’s how it’s been for me.
I started Post-Rock Nation to make time pass faster, to make it less painful, and to give it more hope. When I started, I had no idea what it would look like today. All I knew was that I wanted to fix a simple problem, for people like me who truly appreciate this music.
Post-rock isn’t for everyone. Not everyone connects with music this way. I’d say not everyone likes to dive into their own mind. Post-rock has a unique way of doing this to the listener, almost like putting them into a hypnotic state, forcing them to be with themselves, to feel things at their roots.
It’s been over two years now since this project, which I originally built just to make time pass faster, went live. I can’t be more proud of it. Today, it’s one of the most important parts of my life.
Post-Rock Nation turned into a way for me to get even closer to a genre that helps me reflect on life, to people who think the same way, and to incredible artists who feel the same things.
Today, I can honestly say I’m grateful for the changes I went through in 2023. Maybe if they hadn’t happened, Post-Rock Nation would have never existed.
I’d like to thank all of you, the amazing artists and users of the site, for the encouragement and support you’ve given me over these past two years.
And this isn’t the end of the story.
There are a lot of ideas still taking shape, a lot of things I’ve been quietly building and thinking about. Stay tuned for some genuinely cool things coming to Post-Rock Nation in 2026.
I wish you an amazing holiday season and a great year ahead.
